1976 Gibson Marauder Guitar, Maple Board, All Original, with bonus framed 33 LP and Gibson ad!
Here is a really cool example of a vintage Gibson Marauder. Guitar is all original, comes in the original case and even has a slick little framed 33 with the Gibson ad for the guitar from back in the day. Great display piece!
Guitar itself is the more rare version with the maple board. It is in very good vintage condition and you will see by the pics that the guitar has naturally checked over the years, which is extremely common for a Gibson that is nearly 50 years old. It is simply checking, nothing you can even feel with your fingers, but it gives the guitar a superb ‘natural relic’ type of look.
Otherwise, there are a few marks here and there, but it is in very clean condition. Neck is straight and it is a a player.
Pickups are original work as they should.
If you are a collector, this is a very nice little package to add to your collection.
Dates of manufacture:
The MARAUDER was made between 1974 and 1979 – although a few were still made up to 1982. Despite its Les Paul body shape the Marauder was designed to compete with Fender – it has a bolt-on neck and a stacked humbucker at the bridge to give a brighter Fender-ish sound.
Initially Marauders have a three-way pickup selector toggle switch in the lower bout of the body, to turn on either one or both pickups. In 1976, this was chnaged to a rotary potentiometer which allowed a range of blends between the two pickups. In still later Marauders, the potentiometer (with a chickenhead knob) was moved to between the volume and tone knobs.
