1977 BC Rich Mockingbird Bass Guitar in Koa.
This one is a beauty!
I don’t deal in a ton of bass guitars, but sometimes a bass comes around that I just can’t resist. This is one such bass.
All original from 1977, back in the days when BC Rich guitars were handmade and something special.
Solid koa body, this one appears to be all original and the pickups even have the original ‘goof rings’.
The bass plays great and shows very little wear. There is a mark or two here and there, but take a look at the pictures. It is very, very clean and presents quite well.
The neck is straight and the frets are in very good condition as well.
This is a great blast from the past that you will not see very often in original condition.
Some random info:
neck-through Koa and maple construction, an ebony or Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, DiMarzio humbucker pickups, a Badass bridge, and Grover tuners. The “Standard” models may have specific electronic configurations, including active electronics and various toggles for pickup selection.
- Construction: Neck-through body with a Koa top and maple laminate construction.
- Fingerboard: Ebony or Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with diamond or fancy pearl inlays.
- Hardware: Badass bridge and Grover tuners.
- Pickups: Original DiMarzio humbuckers with high output.
- Electronics: Partial active electronics with a master volume for each pickup, a master tone knob, and a pickup selector switch.
- Early Models: Some of the earliest 1977 basses feature slightly different pickups, like the B.C. Rich High Output Pickups, and may have features like an inlaid R on the headstock.
