1994 Lowden 038 Acoustic Guitar Cedar Top Brazilian Rosewood Back & Sides.

Serial #4901

Handmade in Northern Ireland.

George Lowden’s flagship guitar. If you are reading this, you probably know how special these are, as well as how tough they are to find due to the Brazilian rosewood.

This 038 is a great example of the extreme quality of this model, as well as Lowden guitars in general. I have never played one that I didn’t instantly fall in love with.

Condition is very nice for a 25+ year old guitar.

There are some nicks and dings here and there. Keep in mind, this is a cedar top guitar that is over 25 years old. There is one ding that was repaired by my luthier, Ron at Flathead Guitarworks here in Kalispell MT,  that you will see in the pics. While the (very small) ding has been repaired, it has slightly darkened that little spot. It is smooth to the touch and completely a non-issue, just a small repaired ding. The price has been adjusted accordingly and you can literally saves thousands on this guitar. (if you can even find another)

The 038 plays superbly, as it was given a recent setup, fret polish etc.

The sound is enormous, as you would expect from a Lowden with these tone woods that has had time to age for over 25 years.  The neck is great and the frets are excellent.

Comes as pictured with case. I have no idea if this case was original or not, but it is a high dollar case with a built in humidifier and hygrometer.

You are looking at over $13k for a new Lowden 038. Save some big bucks and grab this one.

Overall, this is an heirloom quality Lowden in Brazilian rosewood. It just doesn’t get much better.

‘I first made the 38 back in 1976. Normally I don’t use much shell inlays in my guitars but with this model I’ve indulged a little. Subtle use of leaf shaped abalone fingerboard inlays and soundboard purfling combine with the ideal choice of reclaimed Brazilian rosewood and a cedar top. One of my preferred choices now!’-George Lowden
