From Kiesel:

The Craig Chaquico Signature Series CC275 semi-hollow acoustic/electric guitar made it’s debut in 2001, and is based on our popular AC275 acoustic/electric. Kiesel Guitars and Craig Chaquico have a relationship dating back to the early 1980s, when Craig was often seen playing an V220 or DN612 on MTV with Jefferson Starship. The CC275 is Craig’s main guitar of choice in his second career as an acclaimed new age/jazz guitarist. Craig’s debut solo CD, Acoustic Highway, was honored in 1993 as Billboard’s #1 New Age Indie and Adult Contemporary album of the year. Acoustic Planet, his follow-up 1994 release, received a Grammy nomination for Best New Age album and reached #1 on the Billboard charts the first week it was released. Craig was voted #1 Best Pop Instrumental Guitarist by Guitar Player Magazine’s most recent Readers’ Poll and later named to Jazziz Magazine’s exclusive list of Top 100 Jazz Guitarists in History. Craig has over 20 gold records to his credit, many of which were recorded using Carvin/Kiesel Guitars gear. His CC275 acoustic/electric proved immediately popular among guitarists that wanted the sound of an acoustic with the functionality of an electric. The CC275 is loaded with features generally only found in boutique instruments, but because we sell direct to you, you don’t have to pay a boutique price. And with hundreds of available options, you can build your CC275 acoustic/electric exactly the way you want it, and be the proud owner of a totally unique instrument that will last you a lifetime.

We start with hand-selected mahogany for the body and neck of the CC275. All of our neck and fingerboard woods undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. The body is carved out for maximum resonance while maintaining stability, and the neck is set deeply into the body for increased sustain and strength. The mahogany construction produces warm tones, perfect for a semi-hollow guitar. The CC275 is light and comfortable to play – it weighs only 5.25 pounds, and the body measures 14″ wide at the widest point, and is 1.87″ thick.

A beautiful AAAA flamed maple top top is standard. You may also choose a highly figured AAAA quilted maple top, flamed koa top or California Claro walnut top. The Custom Shop offers a huge assortment of finishes on all our top woods, which are applied to the top and the matching headstock. You can also choose one of our exclusive deep triple-step finishes, which creates an almost 3-dimensional depth to the figure of the flamed or quilted top. The back of the guitar and neck are finished in clear gloss to show the beauty of the mahogany. Multi-layer body binding is also standard, which accentuates the top wood and adds a more traditional acoustic look to the instrument.

CC275 Eagle Inlays

The CC275 features a standard 25″ scale ebony fingerboard with Craig’s signature mother-of-pearl eagle inlays, a 14″ radius and 24 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets. You can also choose an optional rosewood fingerboard, eagle inlays in genuine abalone, and fingerboard radii of 10″ or 12″. Kiesel Guitars also offers a number of fretwire options, including jumbo, low-wide and stainless steel. The “Rapid Play” low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret. The fully-adjustable dual action truss rod allows you to set the action exactly the way you want it. The headstock is a traditional 3 X 3 design, adorned with a matching eagle inlay in mother-of-pearl (if abalone inlays are selected, the headstock inlay is also abalone). A MOP Kiesel logo adorns the headstock.

Ebony Acoustic Bridge

The standard ebony acoustic bridge has a TUSQ saddle for smooth sustain and clear open notes. The nut is graphite, with further contributes to the sustain of the instrument. Premium locking tuners with a 19:1 ratio ensure your CC275 will stay in tune, no matter what your playing style is. Standard hardware is chrome.

The CC275 has an LR Baggs Element acoustic pickup. This pickup is less than 1/32″ thick and contains a film sensor laminated between layers of Kapton and then laser-trimmed to its final form. It’s reliable and innovative, with a sensor that is responsive to vibration but not to pressure on the pickup itself. This minimizes the sterile sound that is characteristic of most pressure-sensitive under-saddle pickups, because as the guitar top moves with the vibrations of the strings, so does the pickup, naturally reflecting the actual sound and dynamics of the CC275. The CC275 is designed to produce acoustic guitar tones when played through an amplifier – it is not a “true acoustic” like a jumbo-bodied acoustic guitar.

Craig Chaquico

“Carvin’s unique semi-hollow body and thin profile help reduce onstage feedback and allow me to play as loud as I want or as soft as I want from bends, hammer-ons, slap, finger tapping, flat picking, fingerpicking, octaves, harmonics, direct recording, direct through a PA live, or through an amp, it’s all there!”

– Craig Chaquico

Kiesel Guitars also offers the CC275-12, which has all the same premium features of the CC275 in a 12-string configuration. We also offer the AC275 which is similar to the CC275, but with an AAA Engleman spruce top. The AC275 is also available in a 12-string model, the AC275-12.
