The ’62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition takes everything you love about a 6G2 Princeton and outfits it with the Grammy Award–winning artist’s preferred modifications. There’s loads of snappy chime and twang on tap here; although if you crank it, this 6V6-loaded combo can snarl with the best of them. The ’62 Princeton kicks out the perfect amount of volume for studio sessions — that said, it’s loud enough to rock smaller venues. Enjoy true-to-life vintage Fender tone. Embellish your playing with an output tube-biased tremolo circuit. Beyond that, Chris Stapleton’s chosen aesthetics make this amp look as great as it sounds. The ’62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition includes a 1-button tremolo switch and a retro-styled fabric cover.

A legendary amplifier design

When Fender originally released their Princeton guitar amplifier, their intent was to offer a good practice amplifier for guitarists needing to work on their chops. But the model quickly caught on with recording guitarists for how effortlessly it delivered both chiming cleans and sweet tube-amp breakup. Whether speaking about the original tweed designs in the 1940s or the iconic Brownface model of ’62, the Princeton has been a mainstay with players for over 50 years.

Chris Stapleton’s chosen mods

The Fender ’62 Princeton Chris Stapleton Edition combines the classic 6G2 circuit with Chris’s chosen modifications. It’s the real deal — it boasts vintage Blue tone caps, Schumacher transformers, and an output tube-biased tremolo circuit. Aesthetic touches include a rough, textured brown vinyl covering, wheat grille cloth, and thick, dark brown leather handle. It also boasts a dark brown control panel with dark brown radio knobs, an engraved brass plate with Chris Stapleton initials on its rear panel, and a retro-styled Filson twill fabric cover.

Studio stalwart

Here’s a great example of an amp whose popularity and usefulness never went away — and now it’s more popular than ever among guitarists! The ’62 Princeton combines portability, tube tone, and outright vibe to make a classic package that gets the job done for a range of styles and applications. Studio session? This amp’s 12-watt output puts it squarely in the favored small amp category that studio cats love: It’s robust enough to move some air, but the wattage is low enough to let you crank it up and let its dual 6V6 tube power section really go to work. This is how the classic tones were put to tape, and it works!
