Vintage 80s/90’s Charvel ATX Acoustic/Electric Guitar-Sunburst Quilt Top with hard case.
This is a very cool, rare Made in Japan Charvel from the late 80’s/ early 90’s.
Awesome Sunburst quiltop, this one was the pinnacle of the ATX line at the time. Most of them were either solid colors or flat black. This one has a bit of an archtop and also the very nice quilted maple.
Guitar is in superb condition for its age, showing a little bit of fretwear and thats about it.
No dents or dings, very, very clean.
Comes as pictured with a nice tweed-grey hard case.
Rare find, and even rarer to find one in this color, in this condition.
According to the 1993 Jackson / Charvel catalog, the ATX was designed for the guitarist looking for a “true” live acoustic sound onstage, but without the feedback problems associated with putting a mic or pickupu into a traditional acoustic guitar. This lightweight hybrid features a Mahogany body which as been “hollowed out” so that the overall final resonance is similar to that of an acoustic instrument. A special thickness Maple top is then attached to the chambered body, which allows it to vibrate just enough to reproduce a true acoustic tone without feeding back when played through an amplifier or sound system. The guitar also utilizes a Rosewood bridge with a Fishman Transducer (AGP-125) installed underneath the saddle. The strings are anchored through the body (Tele style), which further helps reduce unwanted vibration modes and also insures that the bridge saddle is in perfect contact with the transducer element at all times. There is also a three-band Charvel Active Pre-amp EQ with a controls for Bass, Mid and Treble, along with a Volume control.
