The Ultra V has a standard alder body and maple neck-through design. Alder is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of its relative light weight and fine resonating tone. It’s slightly darker in color than maple, which accentuates the Ultra V’s neck. Alder also has a subtle and attractive grain that looks great in any of the Custom Shop’s many finishes, including solid colors, translucent finishes and our new metallic solid finishes. Although alder is the standard wood, optional woods such as swamp ash, maple, mahogany, walnut and koa are available, all of which have their own tonal characteristics. You can add premium top woods, such as AAAA flamed maple, AAAA quilted maple, flamed koa, and California Claro walnut.

Standard 3 X 3 Pointed Headstock

The standard maple neck clarifies the overall tone of the instrument, but other neck woods, such as mahogany and koa are offered for their own slightly warmer tonal qualities. 5-piece necks of different combinations of maple, walnut and koa add to the already great looks of this instrument, and if an optional top wood is selected, you can choose whether you want the neck to show on the top or not. All of our necks and fingerboards undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. The fully-adjustable dual action truss rod allows you to set the action exactly the way you want it. The Dual High Modulus Carbon Fiber Rods, found in all Kiesel and Carvin Guitars instruments, keep the neck stable allowing you to play your guitar, not constantly adjust it. The standard headstock is the 3 X 3 pointed style, and you can also choose a pointed angled 6-inline version or reversed pointed angled design. The headstock is adorned with the Kiesel logo.

The Ultra V features a standard 25″ scale ebony fingerboard with white pearl dot inlays, a 14″ radius and 24 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets. The Custom Shop offers more fingerboard options than most manufactures offer for their entire guitar lines. You can choose from rosewood, maple, birdseye maple, flamed maple or zebrawood fingerboards; dot, diamond or block inlays in mother-of-pearl or genuine abalone along with black acrylic diamonds or blocks; and fingerboard radii of 10″ or 14″. The Custom Shop also offers a number of fretwire options, including jumbo, low-wide and gold EVO. Our “Rapid Play” low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret.

The standard bridge on the Ultra V is our “M” bridge with tune-o-matic bridge and strings fed through the body for additional sustain. You can also choose a Hipshot™ hardtail bridge or Floyd Rose tremolo with or without locking nut. Premium Kiesel locking tuners with a 19:1 ratio ensure you’ll stay in tune no matter what your playing style is. Standard hardware is chrome, and you can upgrade to black or gold.

Standard Kiesel Lithium Humbuckers

The Ultra V comes equipped with new direct-mount Kiesel Passive Lithium Series humbuckers. These pickups were made for the demanding modern music where clarity, focus and articulation is needed, and this series offers great versatility and has an excellent balance between power and clarity. Standard pickup colors are black coils, with cream or white coils available. Passive electronics consist of a master volume and tone control and 3-way pickup selector. The tone control doubles as a push-pull coil splitter, effectively doubling the tonal range of the instrument. The input jack on all Ultra Vs and V220s is now located on the inside of the lower bout as a standard feature.
